SUITLAND MARYLAND STAKE: (June 6, 2010) President - Darren Keola Sho Sakai, 40, program manager; succeeding Kenneth M. Page; wife, Kimberlyn Yenchung Kaleimokihana Kauwe Sakai. Counselors - Brian Rex Williams, 41, legislative director; wife, Jennifer Petersen Williams. Duane Emanual Volk, 46, legislative liason for U.S. Air Force; wife, LeeAnn Child Volk.
So it is, Keola is the new stake president for the Suitland Maryland stake. It was a whirlwind of a weekend. Elder Holland held interviews Saturday afternoon, ate dinner, and by 6:30 pm extended the call to Keola. Counselors were chosen, called, and Keola was back home by 9:30ish. We both had a difficult time sleeping that night.
The next morning, Elder Holland wanted to meet with the new stake presidency and their wives before conference. For about an hour, we sat at the feet of an apostle taking in as much counsel as he was able to give.
It was a fantastic weekend!!
Here's Keola with Elder Holland and Elder Hardy, and Keola's two counselors, President Williams on the far left and President Volk on the far right.
A trip to Hawaii is not complete without a meal at Boulevard Saimin.
