Our little performance at the VC

We are so proud of Lillie practicing and continuing to learn the violin!  She already is, and will be a great blessing to the Lord because of it.

Halloween 2017

Lillie was a cute minion this year!!

She is such a cute girl!!  She doesn't eat much candy, but she went trick-or-treating to get candy for us and her friends!!  That is the spirit of Halloween!

Some other pics form this year's ward party.  It is hard to believe we moved here 9 years ago ready, on Halloween!!!

Our friend Jesse--being eaten by a shark.
 Our little jokester--Luke.
Mason and I were a due costume--missionary and non member coming to church!

Our Lillie got into All County Honors Orchestra

Lillie worked so hard and auditioned for the All County Honors Orchestra.  She has worked so hard on learning to play the violin.  We are so proud of her.  She practiced and practiced for this orchestra and made it in with flying colors!!  So much so, she got third seat!!  That is pretty good for a 7th grader!!  We are really proud of her.

We snuck a picture of Lillie's first practice--third seat!!

Violin Camp

Lillie is doing so well playing her violin.  We are so very proud of her.  In August she attended a violin camp for a week.  Everyday she spent 8 hours in private lessons, scales and fundamental classes, master classes and technique.  She learned so much, made new friends, and increased her desire to continue to play violin.  She will bless the lives of many as she continues to learn.

2017 Young Women (Girl's) Camp

This year, Lillie was able to attend girl's camp.  By all accounts she had a great time, singing the camp songs, eating new foods, sleeping without air conditioning, going on a hike, learning about the church and the Savior!  She made new friends, and had a wonderful time.  We were able to be with her the entire week as well.  Kim was the craft lady and I was, well, the stake president!

Sunday with the General Primary President of the Church

In June we had the awesome experience of being with the General Primary president of the Church.  She was in town to receive an award for the Church from the National Children's Alliance Center, for their work and cooperation with helping abused children.  We met her and her husband and accompanied them to the Capitol Hill and Anacostia wards.  It was a very special day for us.

Lillie 6th grade orchestra

Lillie is doing remarkably well in her pursuit of playing the violin.  Her 6th grade orchestra had their spring concert.  It was really nice to hear.  We are so proud of her.

Lillie's stand partner was Seth Hilton, a boy from our ward.  They were sweet together.  See Lillie?  First seat!!!  Our concertmaster daughter!!  HAHA

Happenings in the Sakai household

April/May happenings in the Sakai household:

Lillie played violin in a solo ensemble competition.  She got a high score and went on to the state solo ensemble.  We are so proud of her violin playing!  Here she is playing Handle's Bouree from Suzuki Book 2, Level 2.

Our annual AP commemoration camp.  All the brethren came out to camp and have a fireside honoring the Aaronic Priesthood.  Pres. Volk gave a great talk and putting on the whole armor of God.

We have an annual missionary preparation seminar in which the seniors come out and have workshops on preparing to be a missionary.  The highlight is when they get to go out with the full-time missionaries to proselytize.
We celebrated Kim on her birthday at the new National Harbor MGM grand hotel.  We went to a Top Chef restaurant, Marcus Samuelson, and it did not disappoint.

Honoring mom on mother's day.  We sent nana some roses.  Here she is with Katie, Kanani, and grandma.

National prayer breakfast with Elder Calderwood, of the Seventy.

The ward had a teacher appreciation night in which they nominated teachers of theirs to be honored.  Lillie had a great first year in middle school.  She loves Mrs. Bowen and all her teachers, but Mrs. Bowne is who was nominated.  Here she is with all her students in the ward.
