The New Year's Trip to NYC Part 1

On a whim we decided to take a trip to New York City to celebrate the new year.  And that we did!!  We started off driving anout 4 hours into the city.  It is not a bad drive at all.  It's just right.  After we checked into our hotel near Times Square, we headed to a great Chinese restaurant called Shun Lee.  The food and ambiance was spectacular.

The decor had these really cool dragons all along the wall.
We then took a horse and carriage ride through central park and around the city.  It was very cold, but luckily we had these heavy blankets to keep us warm.
Then we went to Lincoln Center for an event for children.  It was a new year's eve circus extravaganza.  The circus acts were really interesting and the event was very festive.  It was a great way to ring in the new year.

Christmas 2013

We had a wonderful Christmas.  On the eve we went to President Williams' home and had a lovely evening there.  Then on Christmas day, we opened presents in the morning and had friends from Washington D.C. come over for dinner.  It was a wonderful two days.  We sure missed our family, but will see them when we try to make it home during Easter break.

The house was all trimmed and ready on Christmas Eve.  One of our traditions is to let Lillie have a sleep-over in our room on the floor.  She was all ready to have a sleep-over.

Lillie's Christmas Concert

One of the things Lillie has done in school, is join the third grade chorus.  This was their Christmas concert, and it was very sweet.  The children all sang so well.  We couldn't help but remember our days as performing kids!

It's a Snow Day!!

A forecast of some snow prompted a school closure today. Lillie was feeling lucky!!
She decided to spend some time on the deck.

And who doesn't like a little fresh snow!!  Ha ha

2013 Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Temple

We had another great tree lighting ceremony at the temple.  This year Sister Wixom came to talk.  She is the General President of the Primary.  It was a beautiful evening as always.  The music, the talks, and of course the lights were all so well done and put us in the Christmas spirit!

Lillie found a nativity set representing China.
The children were all asked to come down to the stage and sing some familiar carols.  That part of the program is always festive!
